Dr. Keith A. Thompson is a board-certified medical oncologist who joins the Lander community with more than three decades of experience caring for patients with cancer. He believes exceptional oncology care begins with listening, clear communication, and a strong partnership with each patient and their family. Dr. Thompson looks forward to building lasting relationships in Lander and helping patients receive thoughtful, individualized care close to home.

Dr. Thompson earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University and completed his internship, residency, and hematology/oncology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. He spent more than 30 years in private practice in Alabama before serving as Chief Medical Officer of VieCure and later as a medical oncologist at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. His career has also included leadership roles in clinical practice, hospice care, cancer data and technology initiatives, and professional organizations, including service as president of the Alabama Society of Clinical Oncology and chair of an American Society of Clinical Oncology CancerLinQ committee. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Throughout his career, Dr. Thompson has considered it a privilege to guide patients through complex decisions with compassion, honesty, and respect. He is honored to continue that work in Lander and to collaborate with local clinicians and community partners to support the health and well-being of patients throughout the region.
